Men in Black 3 Rakes Highest on Opening Day Weekend

Men in Black 3

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black 3

I especially enjoyed the Men in Black 3 last night. We watched it for our fifth anniversary date. hehehe How romantic is that? But Dennis and I both love it, so we are just happy that we caught this really nice film in the big screen.

We did not really intend to do it but we both wore matching shirts. No, we did not have customized t-shirts made just for our anniversary date, but we both wore black tops and then we watched Men in Black 3. wahahaha We did not really notice it until the end of the movie so we asked a cleaning person to take a picture of us with the screening poster. hehehe

Anyway, I like the movie because it is action-packed and fast-paced, but not so fast that you will have to catch your breath while watching the movie. It has fresh humor, some wisdom, as well as poignant scenes. It is an alien movie that is as much human as you and me. Life-like in a sense. You will have to watch it if you haven’t yet in order to fully appreciate it.

MIB3 at SM Cinema

Hubby and I caught MIB3 at SM Cinema for our fifth anniversary movie date.

And because I like it, I am happy to know that on its opening day in the United States, MIB3 raked in $55 million. It even beat The Avengers, which opened at $37 million. I also love The Avengers. Am also happy that we watched it on the big screen.

Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, MIB3 stars Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin as the young Agent K (the character immortalized by Jones in the last three MIB movies).

When my brother and I traveled last week, we really talked extensively of how we loved The Avengers movie. Actually, he was scheduled to watch a second time when he back to Manila. He wanted to watch the 3D version.

Now, I know that we are not the only ones raving about the The Avengers. You see, the movie has set a new record in the domestic box office because it earned a whopping $200.3 million on its opening weekend this summer 2012. It is the largest by far in history, beating even Harry Potter.

And overseas, the superhero film earned $441.5 million, which makes its worldwide total of $641.8 million. For only one weekend, it had already surpassed the lifetime totals of other superhero flicks, namely Captain America: The First Avenger ($364 million), Thor ($449 million), Iron Man ($585 million), and Iron Man 2 ($624 million). Imagine that!

It is reported that The Avengers may earn a total of $1 billion worldwide. Well, the movie is really deserving so job well done to everyone involved!

The Destruction in Super Hero Flicks

My husband and I love watching super hero movies. I am not really sure why but maybe it is because my husband liked to collect and read comics when he was younger that it is just different when you see the superheroes come to life on screen.

On my part, I guess it is the fact that I also want to like what my husband is raving about. But whenever we are done watching a movie, like the recent The Avengers movie, I would tell my husband that I am glad that superheroes are not real.

That is because whenever and wherever there are superheroes, there are also super villains and their fights cause so much destruction to the city. Just imagine metal buildings getting melted or smashed to smithereens. But in real life, the only big devastating event where we have seen a metal building collapsing was during the 911 terrorist attack. That was a singular event but it killed many people so how much more if superheroes do exist!

So anyway, I will just continue to watch superheroes in movies and I hope they stay there. We wouldn’t have room for them in the real world! LOL No offense.
