What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas

What Happens in Vegas

What Happens in Vegas starring Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz.

The catchphrase, “What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas”, is a great marketing strategy. I think that whoever thought of this was really brilliant because it is something that is being chanted by people everywhere who wanted to get away and do something for the first time in their lives. And it is working because people are constantly drawn to Vegas. It is a life-long dream for many.

When I was in the United States on a visit, my only regret was missing Las Vegas. I went from San Francisco, to Los Angeles, then Orlando, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, back to Orlando, then LA again. But we just did not have the time to swing to Vegas.

That is why I enjoy movies with Vegas settings like “What Happens in Vegas“. This movie by 20th Century Fox stars Ashton Kutcher, Cameron Diaz, and Lake Bell. By a stroke of bad luck, both of them decided to go to Vegas. But their lucks turned when they ended up getting billed in the same room of a hotel. Getting upgrades and freebies, they partied hard and ended up married. Realizing their mistake, they decided to get a divorce as soon as possible. But to complicate things, Ashton’s character played the Slots from a coin that Cameron’s character gave him and voila! He wins the jackpot! hahahaha Even in the movies, that only happens in Vegas.

Anyway, it had been a difficult trail after that and you will have to watch the movie to fully enjoy the raucous that ensued. But I really had a good laugh with this movie. As this is a romantic comedy film, you can expect that it has a happy ending. Still, it is highly entertaining. And it would make you feel like playing Online Bingo or other games after watching. Sigh…the influence of Vegas. hehe

Friends With Benefits

Friends with Benefits

Friends with Benefits

On one date night again, hubby and I watched Friends with Benefits. It is a nice and light romantic comedy movie–the kind of film that we like to watch as our bonding time.

Anyway, the movie stars pop star Justin Timberlake and the sexy Mila Kunis. I like the movie because the ending is like a modern-day fairy tale. Though I do not exactly like the storyline if it is gonna happen in real-life, I do like their portrayal. Justin and Mila have a nice onscreen chemistry and they really look comfortable together.

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake on the sofa--a famous scene in the movie where they talk about having sex without emotional attachment.

Since Justin is a singer, they script has exploited this fact and has made the guy sing some lines in the movie. And I think that is great.

Friends with Benefits
has a similar plot to the Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman movie–No Strings Attached. But I think that FWB is much better because Ashton and Natalie do not seem to be a nice match. It was bad casting.

Having a Friend with Benefits

Having watched the movie Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, I started to think about my own friends.

I know that in the United States and maybe among the more liberated group, the phrase “friends with benefits” is like a status. This means that friends sleep together and with each other without romantic involvement. But of course, we all know that this will not be the case forever because somehow, more often than not, one or both of the friends eventually end up falling in love. And well, needless to say, it complicates things.

Anyway, as for my friends with benefits? I just want to say that having friends just has all the benefits to us, emotionally, mentally, physically–but for us, of course it is not sexually. When I say physically, I mean friends helping friends in time of need, such as needing a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, or some stuffing to the empty pocket. We also provide prayer support.

Of course, having friends has its benefits, it just depends on what kind of benefits you are looking for.

Note: We also watched a movie with a similar plot, No Strings Attached, starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.
