Back in 1998, Disney released an animated film entitled Mulan. This movie was based on the legend of Hua Mulan (in the movie they called her Fa Mulan) from the Chinese. I really loved the movie that when I got pregnant in the year 1999 and gave birth on March 2000, I watched the movie almost everyday. I memorized most the movie dialogues they had and even the songs.
So when my husband came home and told me that he saw a movie based on the same character Mulan, I was immediately estatic to hear more about it. So, when we got the opportunity, my husband and I watched it at home.
To my delight, Hua Mulan (2009) was a very nice movie. I love the way Wei Zhao (Vicky Zhao) portrayed the character and how excellent Jaycee Chan (son of Jackie Chan) gave a comedic twist to the movie. Though the ending is not what I have expected, I still enjoyed the action and drama scenes.
I recommend this movie to anyone. If you have kids, parental guidance is a must. There are scenes that are not suitable for young audience. And since this is a Chinese film, you must be quick in reading the sub-titles so that you can translate it to your kids who are not yet able to read that fast.
