Not Watching Les Miserables

Before you get any wrong notions or lash out negative comments, hear me out. I am not watching Les Miserables, the critically-acclaimed film starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russel Crowe, and Amanda Seyfried only because I am pregnant and I don’t think I can handle the emotional scenes.

Reading the reviews, I have come to the conclusion that this is more than just your regular tear-jerker and the performances move the soul.

So I am not about to risk it while I am heavily emotional. I keep shedding tears every time I read a heartwarming story, so how much more Les Miserables. So this will have to wait until I have given birth and no longer lactating. LOL

Sounds in the Movies

Hubby and I often watch movies at home. I mean we watch films on DVD or sometimes from online files. While we get the gist of the story, there is just something missing in these movie viewing times.

For one, our TV is so small–just 14 inches–so you cannot actually feel like you are watching a movie. It is like you are just watching regular television programming. Additionally, we do not have good quality speakers or UltraSound Amplifiers so our viewing experience is indeed a far-cry from what we can have in the theater.

And most of the time, we mute the sound and just have subtitles because we can only watch the movies that we want when Dindin is already asleep.

Sigh…That is why Dennis and I always look forward to going to the theater to watch movies. But since we do not really have a lot of time, we can only count the number of times that we go to the cinema with the fingers on one hand. I am not sure if we have a movie outing scheduled anymore for this year. Sigh…

Catching Movie Trailers

cinema entrance

People are waiting their turns to enter a local cinema.

Whenever my husband and I would decide to catch a movie in a theater, we would really try to go there at least 10 minutes before the show starts.

That is because we want to see the movie trailers that are being shown being the actual film. This enables us to know what the latest movies are so that we can pick what we will watch in the near future.

You might say that well, we can always get a listing of the new movies from the Internet or from the papers, but well those are just listings. Some of them may have photos but they are not moving, But when you catch the trailers in the cinema, you can actually see and feel part of the movie. After the trailer, we would then pick what we would watch next, which are either shown the following week or in the weeks to come. Meaning to say, the trailers are really integral if a person is going to watch a film or not. It is no wonder then why so much effort is being put into the making of the trailers–they make or break the film in the box office.

The problem lies when we are running. Then we would try to run from the parking lot, to the elevator, and then rush through the buying of tickets until we are finally seated. Sometimes we can get there on time but we would miss our toilet break. And in some rare cases, we were not able to make it.

So what do we do if we can’t catch the trailers? We stay behind even after the movie is finished. That is because in our local theaters, a lot of them still allow staying even after the show has ended so that you can watch the movie again without having to buy another ticket. Isn’t that cool? And because of that feature, we can still catch the trailers before the next run is shown.
