So In Love with the Avengers Movie

When my brother and I traveled last week, we really talked extensively of how we loved The Avengers movie. Actually, he was scheduled to watch a second time when he back to Manila. He wanted to watch the 3D version.

Now, I know that we are not the only ones raving about the The Avengers. You see, the movie has set a new record in the domestic box office because it earned a whopping $200.3 million on its opening weekend this summer 2012. It is the largest by far in history, beating even Harry Potter.

And overseas, the superhero film earned $441.5 million, which makes its worldwide total of $641.8 million. For only one weekend, it had already surpassed the lifetime totals of other superhero flicks, namely Captain America: The First Avenger ($364 million), Thor ($449 million), Iron Man ($585 million), and Iron Man 2 ($624 million). Imagine that!

It is reported that The Avengers may earn a total of $1 billion worldwide. Well, the movie is really deserving so job well done to everyone involved!

The Destruction in Super Hero Flicks

My husband and I love watching super hero movies. I am not really sure why but maybe it is because my husband liked to collect and read comics when he was younger that it is just different when you see the superheroes come to life on screen.

On my part, I guess it is the fact that I also want to like what my husband is raving about. But whenever we are done watching a movie, like the recent The Avengers movie, I would tell my husband that I am glad that superheroes are not real.

That is because whenever and wherever there are superheroes, there are also super villains and their fights cause so much destruction to the city. Just imagine metal buildings getting melted or smashed to smithereens. But in real life, the only big devastating event where we have seen a metal building collapsing was during the 911 terrorist attack. That was a singular event but it killed many people so how much more if superheroes do exist!

So anyway, I will just continue to watch superheroes in movies and I hope they stay there. We wouldn’t have room for them in the real world! LOL No offense.

The Romantics Movie

The Romantics

The Romantics

You know very well by now that I am not into drama movies because I don’t want to cry. But well, this isn’t a really sad story and I was encouraged by its trailer on You Tube that I decided to watch The Romantics with Dennis. The characters of Josh Duhamel and Katie Holmes were passionate and artistic. They were former lovers but then Duhamel was getting married to the character of Anna Paquin, who was incidentally Holmes’ roommate and supposed best friend. Paquin here is just very controlling that she actually took over the life of Holmes. And eventually, she she got Holmes as her maid of honor.

Anyway, I am just thinking if such neurosis does exist.

Okay, I will not reveal the ending to the story, just in case you want to watch it. The situation is just not something that you want to happen to a friend or worse, your daughter.

The Romantics plot

Seven college friends reunite six years later for the wedding of Lila (Anna Paquin) and Tom (Josh Duhamel). Things go awry when the maid of honour Laura (Katie Holmes) and the bride clash over the groom, with whom Laura was once romantically involved. The story moves slowly trying to explore all the relationships of people in and around the circle of friends. The movie ends with the wedding getting ruined by rain, just before the marriage can be concluded. It is implied that, in the end, the controlling nature of the bride is too much for the groom and he still loves the maid of honour.–Source: Wikipedia

The Romantics stars Katie Holmes, Anna Paquin, Josh Duhamel, Dianna Agron, Adam Brody, Malin Åkerman, Elijah Wood, Jeremy Strong, Rebecca Lawrence, and Candice Bergen.
